I think most people would prefer to keep there feet dry, it is also one less thing to worry about when your taking a shot. There are plenty of shoes that are water resistant to choose from.
Traction - Traction is most important when taking a shot, it will keep your feet gripped to the ground and stop you from slipping. Depending on what golf course you are playing on and how serious you are about golf will determine how much traction you will want on your shoes. I recommend you buy shoes with decent traction, it will help with your swing and you will be more comfortable.
Breathability – Shoes that let your feet breath are great in hot, dry conditions. They will help keep your feet cooler. These shoes are generally lighter and are better for walking for long distances.
Style – The style of your shoes is your personal choice. There is a huge range of different styles right now, there is something for everyone on the market right now.
Price – The quality of your golf shoes is dependent on the price you spend on them, but I think you will agree that this is not always the case. Sometimes the most expensive shoes are not of the highest quality, so you have to know what you want in a pair of shoes. do i need waterproof hiking shoes for simple hiking on the west coast of ireland?
Could I get by with normal non-waterproof athletic shoes? How likely am I to encounter a bog that I will definitely need to pass? We are planning to stick to established trails and not venture out too far.

I do not own boots. My only option would be to spray my regular athletic shoes with waterproofing, which might not be very good for them
I, myself am from Connemara in the west and I would say that it would depend on where you’re going but I would advise you to buy some waterproof shoes or boots , or even better some wellies!Also you should definetely bring a light raincoat and warm hat if you’re going to be outside for a while and the weather isn’t great! Especially because of the wet weather we have been having all summer!
