Should I go shopping in New York or LA (for designer clothing)?

So I’m a 16 year old Canadian girl and it’s time to start planning my yearly out-of-town shopping trip and I was wondering where I should go – NYC or LA?
To give you an idea of my style (incase one cities caries more of similar styled-clothing than the other). I tend to go for that clean-cut/prep school/tennis player kind of look, I adore cardigan sweaters & oxford shirts and I love Ralph Lauren, The Brooks Brothers & LACOSTE. I’m also shoe-crazed, so if either has a better selection of shoes that’d be great too.

Definitely NYC. LA is more laid back or really really glamorous. In NYC your more likely to find a wider selection of styles and including TONS of preppy stuff. Saks 5th Ave, Neiman Marcus, 5th Ave, Madison, Bloomingdales, and The Meat Packing district will all have tons of designer clothes.
If your shoe crazed DEFINITELY go to Saks Fifth Ave. They just opened up a new shoe section that is over 8000sq feet of gorgeous designer shoes. Its so big the US postal service gave it it’s OWN ZIP CODE!! Its my new favorite place ever!!!!!!!!!
